The Met

so savannah you think i m
better off question mark
no i know you don t you re
just doing what a friend does
and helping me see the bright side
of things well i have to tell you
there really is no bright side
but as you pointed out i am
still footloose and fancy free
more so than ever actually
so i went to the met last night
next time i ll try moma not that
i didn t enjoy myself but if i m
going to stare at a painting for
hours and try to understand it
i want to examine picasso s
guernica the met doesn t have
enough modern stuff i actually
don t find kandinsky all that
difficult klee i don t quite get
though he is indeed purposefully
less complex i went and saw the
armor at your behest i never
thought much of the armor
to me it s always just been
the stuff before you get to
the good stuff but last night
as i quietly walked in i heard
a bellowing voice who goes
there it asked with a thick
english accent at first i thought
there might be some other
after hours visitor declare
yourself or ready to be cut in
two by my scimitar why would
an englishman be carrying a
scimitar i thought I rounded
the corner and there stood an
iraqi prince never seen a suit
of armor quite like that no need
to get your panties in a bunch
i said i m sure a mere cockroach
poses no threat to you
what s with the accent
educated at the best english boarding
schools prince said anyway
i see you never heard of cyro the great
cyro the great was he a cockroach
i asked indeed said he a roach
who foiled many a good battle
plan by showing his roachly
likeness at just the right time
a cockroach has a way of sending
even the strongest of men crying
for their mothers you look to me
to be harmless in comparison
you probably came to talk to the
pharaoh didn t you pharaoh
goodness no i came to see you
and the other armor are there
other spirits here yes but they re
all a little light in the boots shall
we say not a single backbone
in the lot one must be strong
to weather all these ghastly
transformations life heaves your
way i couldn t agree more i said
having found something of a
soul mate i said don t you think
we re doing a pretty good job
question mark
