Madagascar
i guess the tourists wanted to see
the birds and flowers so we had to
take a small diversion south to
this crazy island all the bugs are nuts
but at least i met one with potential
an actual honest to goodness swami
i asked the fellow savannah and he
did not disappoint he but a spider
with many legs caused into being
a venomous snake to rise up from
its basket then some hairy guy
came along and stuffed the snake
back down into its lair but still
i stood amazed can you turn me
back into a person i asked of course
how could i resist ah but no
my poor roach said the swami
once a roach always a roach i m
afraid that s just it i cried i
used to be a person and someone
cast an evil spell he thought long
and hard about that one and
eventually copped out if it s true
he told me that would be a spell
greater than i could conjure
i myself used to be a lion king
of the jungle and then poof
one day i m making webs like
nobody s business if i could
undo it believe me i would
let s figure it out come with me
exclamation point i said
i m leading a damn good life
now he said i don t mind
conjuring snakes and playing
voodoo it pays the bills you know
these insects have no self esteem
my only hope it seems savannah
is to find an actual person who
was transmogrified as I was
even the king of the jungle just
doesn t know what he s missing
