Tougher to Rhyme

you re old fashioned
exclamation point
tougher to write rhymes
question mark
not in a million years
without them you re
walking the high wire
without a net it s true
but oh the freedom of
walking without them
is beyond compare
a poet who can make
free verse take flight
lift it up so that it
takes us all by storm
is a person of true nobility
a person to whom we are
eternally indebted i m not
claiming i can do it at least
not every time but they
tell me i have my moments
don t we all i believe you
when you assure me i will
again be queen i may be
lowly vermin but my heart
is still solid gold
